The new chief exec of a leading US software company says he can’t walk around in a formal dress because it is “too distracting.”
Speaking on CNBC on Thursday, Bill Gurley said he had “been wearing a dress for the past two years,” but would now prefer to wear a tie and dress shirt.
The CEO, who joined Facebook in 2016, said the dress he was wearing was a “pretty nice” dress with the sleeves rolled up.
“But that’s not what I want to be doing.
I want my team to be comfortable and relaxed and productive,” he said.
Gurley said the company would continue to experiment with new dress styles.
“I can’t do it for the office anymore, it’s too distracting,” he told CNBC.
“It’s like walking through the mall or something,” Gurley added.
“The whole point is to get people to be in that state of mind.”
The CEO also said the new CEO had not yet decided on the dress she would wear.
“It’s going to be a long, long time until we get to that point,” he added.
