Vintage dresses for teens are now the most popular style for women of all ages, according to a new survey.
The trend is being driven by the arrival of the latest trend in the fashion world, vintage dresses for teenagers, which include dresses with modern details and patterns and a vintage feel.
The survey, conducted by the research consultancy BrandGuide and published in The Independent on Thursday, found that women aged between 15 and 29 now make up almost a quarter of all fashion designers.
The majority of respondents said they preferred the vintage look, with 70 per cent of women preferring vintage dresses with simple patterns and prints, 70 per percent saying vintage dresses are the most fashion-forward style and nearly one-third of women saying vintage dressmakers are doing a good job.
But more than half of women said they would not buy a vintage dress from a designer who did not have a vintage theme, with almost two-thirds of women stating they would never buy a dress from someone who did.
While the majority of women say they would buy a fashionable vintage dress, a third of them said they are concerned about the quality of the dress they might purchase.
The poll also found that young women are the largest demographic to be looking to buy a designer dress.
The study was conducted among 1,000 British women aged 15 to 24 and was conducted via telephone interviews from January 7 to February 5.
The survey has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.3 per cent.
