TechCrunch – TechCrunch is reporting that an Australian man is going to the limit with his $500 investment in a $1,000 swimsuit from the Australian Swimming Australia website.
The swimmsuit is currently being made available for sale on the site for $5,000, with a one-year warranty, and it’s currently the third most expensive item on the website.
According to TechCrunch, the seller, who goes by the name of “Aussie Swimming,” claims to have bought the swimsuit at the end of August, when the site posted a picture of a black-and-white image of the swim suit in its shop window.
The swimmings website, however, states that the item is “not currently available.”
TechCrunch says the seller is a member of the Australian swimwear community, and has “been a member since 2011.”
The item is described as a “slim waistline with a high waist,” and is made of polyester, with “three stripes,” according to the listing.
TechCrunch writes that the swimsuits can be purchased for $2,500 (about $1K) and will include a one year warranty.
As TechCrunch points out, there’s no mention of the suit being made in Australia.
It is not the first time a swimsuit seller has been caught breaking the law.
In April, a man in his 50s from the U.K. was arrested after he reportedly purchased an “extra” swimsuit for $300.
That man, known as John, was charged with “using a false name and forging documents.”
John has been banned from selling swimsuits online for three years.
He faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison if convicted.
