The internet has been buzzing lately about Nordstrom’s decision to sell white dress to women in 2017.
Now the brand is being forced to explain why its decision is not in line with the wishes of its customers.
According to a statement released by the company, the decision was made after feedback from customers.
Nordstrom said in the statement that it was not clear if it would be able to sell the white dress for $85 in its retail stores.
“We are deeply sorry for the inconvenience this decision has caused,” the statement reads.
“The decision to discontinue the white dresses was not made based on the feedback we received and is not a reflection of our customers’ preference for white dress.”
The statement goes on to say that Nordstrom will work with customers to ensure the dress will be available for purchase again.
The company added that its stores will offer a full refund on any item purchased from any of its outlets in 2018.
“In 2018, we are going to offer a complete refund for all of our white dresses, regardless of size,” the company said.
“We will continue to offer the white gowns in our stores and will make the best of a bad situation.
We are committed to offering our customers the best shopping experience possible.”
The announcement comes on the heels of a number of retailers, including Macy’s, Target, and Nordstrom, all of whom have stopped selling white dresses in 2017 and 2018.
The statement by the brand follows several other major retailers, like Best Buy, Target and Sears, announcing similar sales bans earlier this year.
According a survey conducted by the online retailer Gartner, a majority of U.S. consumers prefer to shop for their needs at home.
Only 15% of respondents said they shop online.
While Nordstrom has said that it has plans to return to white dress sales in 2018, many customers have expressed concerns over the change.
Nordstrom said that the white-dress option was not a “must have” for many customers.
Nordheim said it will provide free return shipping for all returns within the United States within 30 days of receiving the returned item.
